- When India became independent from the British Empire in 1947, the Nizam of Hyderabad, a Muslim king, wanted Hyderabad State to remain independent under the special provisions given to princely states. The Hindus of the Hyderabad State, who accounted for 93% of its population, launched the 'Join India' movement with the cooperation of a few Muslims for the integration of the State with the rest of the country. The Indian National leaders from the state as well as Arya Samaj leaders invoked themselves whole-heartedly in the movement. The peasants (agricultural workers) of the state, influenced by Communist party, had also revolted (rebel) against the Nizam, who tried to suppress their armed struggle against landlords. Kasim Razvi led Private Razakar Muslim army fighting for continuation of the Nizam's rule, did worst forms of atrocities (an extremely wicked) on people. The Government of India liberated and assimilated the Hyderabad State on 17 September 1948, in an operation by the Indian Army called Operation Polo.
- FORMATION OF ANDHRA PRADESH: - Andhra was the first state to be carved out (from erstwhile Madras state) on linguistic (relating to language) basis on 1 November, 1953. It had Kurnool town as its capital after the death of Potti Sriramulu who sat on a 53-day fast-unto-death demanding the new state.
- Andhra assembly passed a resolution on November 25, 1955 promising to safeguard the interests of Telangana.
- An agreement was reached between Telangana leaders and Andhra leaders on February 20, 1956 to merge Telangana and Andhra with promises to safeguard Telangana interests. A Gentlemen’s Agreement was then signed by Bezawada Gopala Reddy and Burgula Ramakrishna Rao to the effect.
- JAI TELANGANA MOVEMENT 1969: - Massive revolt called Jai Telangana Movement launched by people in Telangana demanding a separate state.
Marri Channa Reddy launched the Telangana Praja Samiti espousing (Support) the cause of a separate state. The agitation (State of anxiety) intensified and turned violent with students in the forefront of the struggle and about 300 of them were killed in violence and police firing that ensue(happen).
- As conciliatory (Hostile) measure, the All-Party State Accord was signed. Indira Gandhi also announced packages for the region, styled an eight-point formula and a five-point formula (https://indiankanoon.org/doc/1466428/). Court upholds the rule of job and educational quotas for Telangana. Telangana people rejected the proposal of Indira Gandhi.
- Telangana Praja Samithi: - TPS was founded in 1969. The founding president of the party was Pratap Kishore. TPS organized a series of strikes and demonstrations throughout the Telangana region to push their demand for a separate state. In June 1969 general strikes in Hyderabad organized by the TPS led to widespread violence as TPS supporters clashed with supporters of a unified Andhra state and with police.
- JAI ANDHRA MOVEMENT 1972: - Jai Andhra movement started in Andhra-Rayalaseema regions as a counter to Telangana struggle. P V Narasimha Rao resigned as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 10 January 1973, and President's rule was declared in the state as counter to Jai Andhra Moment.
On September 21, 1973, a political settlement was reached with the Centre and a 6-point formula put in place to placate people of the two regions.
- In 1985, employees from Telangana complained for injustice relating to employment in government department then at that moment N T Ramaroa chief minister of Andhra Pradesh (TDP), brought the government order to safeguard the interests of Telangana people in government sector.
- Later in 1999, congress demanded creation of Telangana state but of no use.
- Then in 2001, K Chandra shekar rao (KCR) walked out of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and formed Telangana Rashtra Samiti on 27-04-2001.
- Many strikes and fights took place but the revolution has started in the year 2009 for Telangana moment, where KCR went on hunger strike and many students and supporters participated and took their path in that moment.KCR got huge support from students, political leaders and from people of Telangana state.
- During hunger strike a student named K Srikanthachary committed suicide to support KCR strike. KCR and many were arrested during this strike and KCR continued his strike in Jail and Hospital too. Prof M.Kondadaram is the convener of Telangana Joint action committee (TJAC) and that brought all political parties under one roof. Under leadership of Kondadaram many hunger strikes took place including million march. After all this incidents in 2010 central government appointed 5memebers committee which is headed by Sri Krishna and this committee submitted report by the end of the year. This report was not accepted by the people of Telangana. In 2011 Noncooperation movement was started by 3Lakhs employees for 16days. And during same year a student name Yadi reddy committed suicide near parliament Delhi.
After many sacrifices (1500 approx.),
strikes finally on June 2nd 2014 a separate state formed (29th
state of India).
